Caleidoscopica. The world illustrated by Olimpia Zagnoli

A day immersed in the colours of creativity and traditional flavours

Bunker opens the Google Maps app and sets the destination as Chiostri di San Pietro, in Reggio Emilia. With the Caleidoscopica exhibition, the 16th-century spaces of the Cloisters of San Pietro host the last ten years of the career of Olimpia Zagnoli, an illustrator with an unmistakable style. She has transformed bold backgrounds and two-dimensional shapes applying her own distinctive style.

Large bright sculptures capture our first glance of the day. With a zoom and a click of the camera, we thus enter into a world of colours and shapes, solids and voids, lights and reflections. The exhibition covers all the visual, design and editorial forms of expression explored by Olimpia, ranging from drawings to prints, neon lights, fabrics, sculptures and plexiglass.

The exhibition changes perspective in every room, tells its story in an unpredictable way and seems to project the countless symmetrical images of a kaleidoscope into the spaces.

For Caleidoscopica, we designed the catalogue for Lazy Dog, and the communication and graphic design of the exhibition for Palazzo Magnani.

Curated by Melania Gazzotti, the exhibition runs from 24 September 2021 to 16 January 2022 in Reggio Emilia.
