Inside Thomas Stearns’ Glasses

A 15-metre video installation created for the exhibition “Thomas Stearns at Venini”, at LE STANZE DEL VETRO in Venice, Italy. A journey through the works of the American artist Thomas Stearns, as you’ve never seen them.
On September 9, 2019, LE STANZE DEL VETRO opened an exhibition featuring the pieces that the American artist and designer Thomas Stearns (1936-2006) created during his residency at Venini furnace in Murano.
The exhibition curator Marino Barovier commissioned us a video installation to portray the works of the American artist in an innovative way.

For this project, we partnered with our friends from Panottica and Luca Campanale. Together, we visited the museum several times, and for two days we shot inside the fortified warehouse were the pieces were kept. We created a huge video installation to be projected along the 15-metre exit corridor of the exhibition.
Under Marino Barovier’s and photographer Enrico Fiorese’s expert eyes, the shots are able to capture in an incredibly evocative way the light that brightens and is refracted through the rods and murrinas of the “Sentinel of Venice” and through “Facades of Venice, which are some of the most interesting masterpieces from Stearns’ production.

The exhibition Thomas Stearns at Venini opened from September 9, 2019 to January 5, 2020 on San Giorgio Maggiore island, in Venice, Italy.
The exhibition vernissage launched The Venice Glass Week 2019, where Bunker also presented the new website of Fondazione Chiara e Francesco Carraro.
