To design the new website for Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, we started from scratch: we reconsidered the layout and navigation, and completely overhauled the front-end and back-end development.
To improve the user experience, we created a brand new graphic design. The new modular design streamlines the navigation experience and helps connecting the various website sections in an easier way. We also reconsidered how contents are accessed, and based the access on a system of cross-references that are organised according to event type, artists and seasons.
The layout is fluid and responsive: contents adapt to any media above 260 pixels. The maximum and minimum width of texts is designed to always be highly readable.
The new home page highlights the main events and allows users to quickly access news, tickets and reservations. The website structure is organized in blocks. This leaves plenty of room for images, that become the point of access for events, programmes and the calendar.
We completely redesigned the new corporate section with shorter texts, a simpler structure and more room for the history and images of OPV musicians and their guests.
One of our goals was to streamline as much as possible the workflow of the publishing team. To achieve that, we used Python e Django. The modular system of Django CMS, with drag-and-drop functionality and inline editing, allows us to improve the content management experience. With less queries and the use of Memcached, server performance is optimized, reducing workload and page loading times.
